Culinary          Child Care

PROCEDURE:

  1. In your preschool class, have students identify ONE friend that has not taken Child/Human Development (the prerequisite course to preschool).
  2. Have students draft an email to that student, which invites them to observe and participate in our Preschool class for one day/class period. They will be excused from their other class for this observation.
    1. After the observation, they will attend a careers presentation about the Educator Prep Pathway at Leyden.
  3. Schedule students per day to observe and participate in the preschool program. After all preschool periods, host a luncheon for the observers where they will receive lunch + learn about the Educator Prep Pathway at Leyden.
    1. Topics to Cover: Courses to take, experiences provided, careers in Education, scholarships/grants available to non-traditional students.
  4. Follow up with students via email around course selection time and remind them what courses they can take for the upcoming year

Annually: Host a luncheon with all non-traditional students to gain feedback and insight on what our program needs to attain and retain more non-traditional students.
